Dr. Hensen
Veterinarian
Growing up competing in El Paso County 4-H allowed for Dr. Hensen to discover her passion for animals and taught her the basic skills she needed to become a veterinarian. She also focused on animal welfare and western heritage while promoting the El Paso County Fair and the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo as a rodeo queen. Dr. Hensen graduated Magna cum Laude from Colorado State University with Bachelor of Science degrees with Honors in both Animal Science and Equine Science, and minors in Biomedical Science and Business Administration. She then completed her Veterinary Business Certificate with Honors and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Midwestern University in Phoenix, Arizona.
As a Colorado Springs native, Dr. Hensen is excited to be the new owner of Fillmore Veterinary Hospital, where she wants to focus on high quality medicine with a family-friendly atmosphere. Dr. Hensen's professional interests include pathology, epidemiology, giant breed dog care, and preventative medicine. She takes pride in connecting with clients and their beloved pets in the exam room. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys, reading, and horseback riding. She also enjoys growing her hobby farm, which includes horses, dogs that might as well be horses, a miniature horse that should be considered a dog, cats, goats, and a pot-bellied pig!
